Description:
Vase-shaped basket made from woven black ash splints and sweetgrass.
Edging on opening and base has twisted and pointed strips of ash, described as "porcupine work" on the accompanying label.
"1139" written in pencil on bottom.

Other Information

Mary K. Adams was a master basket weaver from Akwesasne.
She won numerous awards incuding the New York State Fair.
Her baskets are in collections at numerous museums.
